Introduction:

Kikandwa Rural Communities Development Organization (KIRUCODO) is a Non-Governmental Organization registered with NGO Board (S. 5914/ 6476) under the Non-Governmental Organizations Registration statute, 1989. Further, the Organization is incorporated as a Non-Profit group under Section 16(1) of the Companies Act with Reg. No. 109960. The Organization is a member of Mukono District NGO Network. Currently the Organization is in Special status with the Economic and Social Council of the UN since 2011. The Organization was formed mainly to focus on Rural Communities development in various sectors for self empowerment.

Background:

Kikandwa Rural Communities Development Organization started by a small group of rural people who were then running small income generating activities (SIGA) so as to earn daily income for self sustainability within Kikandwa Village Local Council-1, an area with devastating social and economic implications include but not limited to lower literacy level, lower employment rate, poor hygienic conditions, increasing poverty, lack of healthy care centers, women and children human rights abuses, and many others. 
Kikandwa Rural Communities Development Organisation was formed on 6th July 2000. In Febuary 2006 the group resolved to take further step in registering their group as a local Non-Governmental Organisation. Further on 8th Nov. 2006, the registration certificate (NGO Reg. No. S. 5914/6476) was granted to the group under the names of Kikandwa Rural Communities Development Organization. On 9th July 2009 the Organization got incorporated as a company Limited by Guarantee.

UPDATES CONCERNING BLUEBONNET HILLS CHRISTIAN CHURCH’S COMMITMENT

​Kikandwa Rural Communities Development Organization – KIRUCODO is so grateful for all the support from Bluebonnet Hills Christian Church based in Austin Texas, USA through the leadership of Pastor Dr. Landon Shultz.

Bluebonnet Hills Christian Church has and still supporting the following projects:

• Free scholastic material donations to primary school children in Uganda. To date, this project has reached to over 2000 children. 

• Sustainable and Profitable small-scale Kuroiler chicken keeping for nutrition and income generation purposes for poor households. This project started with only 40 kuroiler hens and 4 kuroiler cocks in 2 cages. To date, 40 kuroiler hens and 4 cocks have multiplied to over 15,000 kuroiler chickens which have been distributed to target groups and some have been sold to generate income.
• Humanitarian support to the Elderly, Widows, Disabled and other disadvantaged people. To date this project has supported over 800 elderly, widows and disabled people.
  

• Computer training Program for poor rural schools. This project contracted Maendeleo Foundation Uganda to extend its Solar Mobile Computer Training program to selected schools under the sponsorship of Blubonnet Hills Christian Church.
• Construction of a Community Skills Development Centre Shelter at Kikandwa which hosts community skills training in tailoring, typewriting, and others.
  
• Support the Skills Development Training Program and Education support to some selected poor students.
